The Dream Giver

A friend of mine, and fellow writer, Jacqueline Overpeck, recently got her website up and running. I eagerly went to it, where I found some wonderful inspiration we can all cling to.

J.J, as I know her, says this: "Never become discouraged. God’s the one who places great dreams and visions upon your heart. It’s up to Him to fulfill them. Your job is to remain steadfast; simply be faithful. Don’t despise the day of small beginnings. Habakkuk encourages: ‘For the vision is yet for an appointed time…Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come…’” (Habakkuk 2:3).

I love this! Especially for writers. The road to publication is long and sometimes endlessly frustrating. Yet God has purposely placed that dream in us for a reason. We can't let rejections or lack of writing time get us down. Whether I write one sentence or one chapter a day, I'm that much closer to my goal of finishing what it is God has laid on my heart. Slowly, but surely.

Don't let life's endless interruptions discourage you. Because surely it will come.

If you'd like to visit J.J's website:

Blessings from icy Texas,

  1. Greetings from balmy Georgia! I'm sorry you're in the ice. But I am glad you got home safely!

I loved your post. Thanks so much for the scripture. It's something I need to hear every week.

  2. Mindy - Thanks for your post. I ditto Missy's comment. I need to hear the scripture and the reassurance every day! - Christy

  3. Mindy,
What you wrote really dove into my heart. I am so glad you posted on Sunday. I had never read that verse in Habbukuk. I think I'm going to have to give him a visit:-)
