Interview with Belinda Peterson

Q. What do you write and where do you get your story ideas?

A. I write Christian Romance Fiction Novels. I LOVE Romance!! It's so....Romantic! I get my story ideas from all over. Real life, commercials, a line in a song. It's terrible how my mind can try to turn very simple situations into a plot with conflict and strife.

Q. When you aren't writing, what are you most likely doing?

A. I bowl at least one, sometimes two nights a week in a league. (I met my husband at the Bowling Center, but that's another story). I take a Bible study course at my church. I LOVE to take a bath and read.. Oh, and I LOVE to watch American Idol.

Q. When you sit down to write a new story, do you create outlines or do you write by the seat of your pants?

A. I am most definitely a write by the seat of the pants. I can't seem to outline. Ever!!!

Q. Every writer dreams of their first publication or New York Times Best Sellers list. Have you planned your celebration? What will you do?

A. I will probably scream. Literally. Scream. Then cry. Then call my husband. I haven't planned any type of celebration yet, but it might include a cruise. (Just kidding!) My biggest prayer at that time will be to remember it is all about God and I pray that I give Him the glory.

Q. How does your family view your writing? How has your work impacted them?
A. My family is extremely supportive of my writing and the time and money I"ve spent trying to make this a reality. I couldn't ask for a better husband when it comes down to being behind me in whatever I choose. He answers questions for me, in fact I changed the whole ending of a scene, because of his influence. I don't think I could have ever finished a book without their support and patience. As far as impact; My family hasn't actually read any of my books, but my husbands mother and two daughters have. (Hmmmm....I'll have to look into what that means). I think the fact that I've actually sat down at a computer and finished 4 books has shown them (and me) a discipline I didn't know I had. I also think my children see me doing this, going for my dream, and I hope that impacts them in the future never to give up on anything.

  1. Yeah, another pantser! Either I just don't want to be confined to an outline, or I'm not organized enough.
Isn't it great to have hubby's support and input? As aggravated as I may get with mine sometimes, I value his opinion greatly.

  2. Jennifer, Great interview:-) I really enjoyed meeting Lindi this way.

Lindi, I have to tell you that you struck a chord with me. I have said the same thing about going after my dream as an example to my children. I hope that our children see us and are inspired to reach for their own.

May God bless the work of your hands and continue to stir up in you an awesome imagination:-)

  3. I love Lindi, of course, but I also love the fact she's an American Idol fan! I don't hardly miss an episode! I love to comment on the singers and pick my favorite, but the truth is, I'm a wannabe.
    Love ya - Christy

  4. The first thing Lindi is required to do when she sells is call her critique partner.

    Me! :)

Well, I guess I'll let her call her hubby first. But I'm next!

Thanks for the great interview, Jennifer and Lindi!

  5. Missy!!

Honestly, as I was typing my answer "MISSY" kept coming in my mind. You probably will be the first I call.
Of course, I'm going to get a call from you soon---and then you can introduce me to all your editors...
