The Ultimate Guide

I've recently finished reading Margaret Daley's Heart of the Amazon from Steeple Hill's Love Inspired Suspense. What a great story and the setting was fabulous, so vivid that it was a secondary character.

Kate Collier needed to find her brother. In order to do that, this prissy, small-town girl had to go into the jungle. But she couldn't do it without the assistance of a guide. And there was only one man capable of leading her where she needed to go.

How similar to our own lives. In case you haven't noticed, it's a jungle out there. Dangers both seen and unseen lurk all around us. Some ready to trip us up, while others are waiting to devour us. Yet we have the ultimate guide. He can cut a path through the most trecherous valleys. And while it doesn't mean the path won't be rocky and hard to maneuver at times, our Guide knows what lies on the other side. If we fall, He's there to pick us up and carry us. But we have to let Him. God doesn't force Himself on us.

Perhaps you're lost in the jungle, surrounded by the enemy. Look heavenward. Jeremiah 29:13 says, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Won't you let Jesus Christ lead you through the jungle of life.

  1. Thanks for the scripture, Mindy. And for the message. Something to definitely think about.

  2. Mindy,

Your post reminded me of a prophecy. A prophet came to our church and pulled me out of the audience. He said that I had been in the jungle for a long time, but I was coming out of the jungle and I would have so many green lights before me that choices would be mine.

A couple of months later I truly felt like I was coming out of the jungle. God gave me a new job with a $15,000 raise, a new vehicle and it was the beginning of our restoration and new choices. Yes, coming out of the jungle is such a blessing!!!!

  3. Mindy,
I want to read that book. Margaret is such a good writer. Now I want to read it even more.
    Thanks for the scripture.

  4. Mindy,
You and I must be on the same Heavenly plane, or something. I was inspired by the CWO snippet today and posted Jeremiah 29:11-14 on my blog, and here you go with 13. I love these verses. They are so true. It makes me sad for all of those who don't know Him. I hope someone will read this and seek Him for the first time of many.

And Jenn, my heart warmed reading your comment. I love what you said about your new restoration. We're all coming through different paths of the jungle and have gone through or are going through our own restoration. Its wonderful and fearful at the same time.
