Sunday Check In

Well, after missing two check-ins in a row, I'm glad to be back. And I'm soooo ready to get back into the groove of writing again. I managed to eek out a few things these past couple weeks, mostly editing.

This week, my goal is to get a synopsis written for my WIP. Augh!!!! I think I'd rather have a root canal. At least they give you laughing gas with that. Pray for me, y'all. I'm struggling with this one, though I'm not sure why. Probably because I have the spiritual gift of making things harder than they have to be :-D

So what have my F.A.I.T.H. sisters been up to this week? Check the comments and find out.

  1. LOL!! Mindy, you're too funny! (Love that new spiritual gift. I think I have it too, sometimes.) :)

I got some good revising done this past week. Right now I'm writing new scenes that need to be either added in or put in place of other scenes that need major re-writes. One of the things I've learned form the revision letter is that I need to restrain myself on the romance. :) It goes way too fast. I need to tease the reader more, make her be begging for the hero to finally kiss the heroine. Plus the hero/heroine need to work on emotional issues before they kiss. So I'm working on my pacing, reworking the romantic scenes. Slooowing down the "action". :)

I'll be giving finals this week so will have more writing time after Tuesday. I'll have a 2 week break between quarters! I plan to get most of the work done then.

  2. I've been working on getting a contest entry ready. I already entered the Genesis with my first book, but I would like to enter with my second book in both the Touched By Love and the Genesis. I wrote another 2 pages...not much, but it's something. So I have 15 pages left. LOL, it'll take a miracle at the rate I'm going. Then 20 pages for the other contest. The TBL needs 30 pages and a one page synopsis by April 1st. That means March 27th (in the morning) before we leave for vacation. I will do my best.

  3. My goal was to finish chapter four. I didn't write anything new this week, so I have the same goal for this week - to finish Chapter four. Lord, please help me to find some writing time this week! I managed to write two blogs.

  4. I finished my synopsis and now have a 1 page single-spaced, 5 page double-spaced, 10 page double-spaced, and 26 page double-spaced. No, I don't expect someone to want to read all of these! Like Angie, I'm entering contests, but first, I entered an April Workshop through GRW (needed a 10pager for that) and either tomorrow or Tuesday am mailing my entry for the Touched By Love contest. Then, need to go ahead and send in for the Genesis and by June the Maggie. (This is my first year belonging to RWA and ACFW, so I'm going a little contest wacko - as you can tell :-)

    Goals for this week:
    1) Mail submissions for TBL and Genesis!
(I've gotta get them out of here!!!!!!)

2)Check out Mr. Randy Ingermason's Snowflake method as a very wise friend suggested and actually utilize it!

3)Marry scenes from first draft into this draft by starting from the end and working my way up to 3/4 or to middle of book (Yes, this does sound crazy, but I'm seriously considering it or I wouldn't be posting about it!

  5. Hi all,

Sounds like everyone's been busy. I had a chance to work on my snynopsis. Didn't go much else, but that was better than nothing.
