Dreams Really Do Come True...

Dreams really do come true … with persistence.

I got to see my book cover on Tuesday! What an absolute thrill!! It was a dream come true, seeing my name on the front. But you know what? It wouldn’t have happened if I had given up along the way.

And believe me, I almost gave up several times. Each time I was at that point, though, some little thing would happen that kept me going. God would give me one tiny victory amongst all the rejections and failures.

Plus, I’m just plain ol’ stubborn. I guess maybe I couldn’t have ever given up after all, because I refuse to let anything beat me, even major discouragement.

I do think God has His perfect timing for my sale. And I truly believe He’s the one who kept me going (and kept me just stubborn enough—He created me, after all!).

I can’t wait to show my cover to everyone. But my editor asked me to wait until they make a couple of corrections. You’ll be among the first to see it once I’m able to post it!

Until then, hang in there. If you’re still trying to get published, don’t give up. If you’re trying to sell your second, third or whatever number book, don’t give up. If you’re not a writer, but have some other type dream, don’t give up.

I’m living proof that persistence pays off.

P.S. Please come visit my personal blog on Friday! I'll be interviewing debut Multnomah author Amy Wallace. Come and comment for a chance to win a copy of her book, Ransomed Dreams!

  1. How exciting, Missy! I can't wait to see it.

Yes, God does throw in those little victories that keep us going. Not to mention that passion He puts in our hearts. And I'm so thankful He did. Otherwise, the six of us might have never found each other :-D

  2. I had to see what your ladies' blog was all about and just reading your blog today was quite an encouragement for me! Hope your cover is awesome! Thanks for being faithful! Blessings, terri tiffany

  3. Hi, Terri! I'm so glad you visited today and were encouraged. I've had a lot of friends who have encouraged me along the way and pray that I can encourage others.

I hope you'll stop by again sometime!

  4. Hi Terri,
Thanks for stopping by. We do have some good conversation here!!

And Missy's sale is exciting for all of us. She's the first one of us to get the CALL. I'm sure others will follow soon with the talent that is here.

And Missy---can't wait for you to post that cover.

And thanks for a great post. We can't ever give up.
Besides, some of us just shouldn't be doing payroll!!

  5. Missy,

I can't wait to see your cover! Thanks for the encouragement to all of us.

  6. Missy, I'm living vicariously through you right now, lol! I do look forward to your cover, but I also look forward to seeing, ahem, mine one day:-D You are an inspiring person. I'm so glad to get to know you.

  7. Thanks, ladies, for sharing my excitement!

And yes, Angie, I can't wait to see your cover, too. :)

Lindi, sorry about the payroll snafu! LOL

  8. Missy, I think God's given all us writers, no matter where we find ourselves on the writerly journey, the "gift" of stubborness. Without it, there would be no books on the bookstore shelves or online and no opportunity to minister to readers through our writing, either now in the present or at the God-appointed, yet future date.
Congratulations on your book and I can hardly wait to see your cover.
By the way, awesome interview with Amy Wallace!
    God Bless!
    Love & Prayers,

  9. Yes, I'm glad God gave us stubborness. Thanks for stopping by, Anna!
