Dreams Do Come True

Remember when the glass slipper fit Cinderella? Dorothy clicked her heals and ended up at home? Lady found Tramp? Don't you just love romance?
Well, here is a picture of my daughter as she realizes her boyfriend is proposing to her. (He's the one on his knees in the sand on the beach at sunset after a friend has finished serenading my daughter with a romantic song.)

Romance is in the air and the Petersons have a wedding to plan. My daughter and her fiance have been together for three years, but knew right away they wanted to marry. He's since become a fireman and she's starting her last year of college. He's built a house and she's been waiting for "the proposal."

She called me about six months ago and said "Mom, I'm getting married?"
I shouted "Brenna! Really?"
She then said very calmly, "No. That was practice. I think we did good though, don't you?"
So when she called Saturday night and said those same words I asked her if we were practicing again. She said no and I heard the excitement and tears in her voice. I knew her dreams were coming true.
And here's the photo that sums it all up.
Pure excitement.

What has made you this excited lately?

PS--Don't forget about our upcoming interview with Allison Bottke. Now that's something to be excited about.

  1. Its about time you posted, "Mother of the Bride!" You and your daughter both have had me awake all night as a blubbering fool!!! I want Bobby to come here, at FAITH and teach men a lesson, he's the best. Romance is not difficult..... Lindi, you have done well with your children, they have your faith and I think you have rubbed it off on Bobby as well. KUDOS

  5. Omigosh! Your daughter looks just like you, Lindi. How lucky she was to have such a romantic proposal. She'll remember it always, part of "their" story. I love it!
    So. . .when's the wedding?

  6. This is fabulous news! I have to say I was this excited about getting photos from Thailand. It was last Friday night. My daughter is gone for a year long student exchange during her senior year. I'd had a rough week letting her go. I thought I wouldn't see her for almost a year. Then these gorgeous surprise photos came via email. I screamed, I cried, I bubbled over with joy to see her glow from halfway across the world. I could see her being loved on by the family and new friends that greeted her at the airport. They even had a huge banner with her photo made to welcome her. They put tons of purple flower leis around her neck. She looked radiant.

It's very scary sending off your child for that long and to a country far away. It takes a lot of trust on my part to believe she's ready for that huge step.

And I was overwhelmed that they had so much love to share by sending the photos to me within hours of her arrival!

I've sent them out to all my friends and family. I'm excited to see her and who she becomes through this experience.

  7. Oh my goodness! The photos made me cry, and she's not even my daughter! LOL What joy. You can just feel the celebration. I'm so, so glad they captured it on film.

Congratulations!! Now I won't have to ask, "Well, is there a ring yet?" anymore. :)
