Tragedy In the News

I spent a good while Wednesday evening watching television news, watching the horrible photos of the I-35W bridge that collapsed in Minneapolis. What a terrible tragedy.

I can't stop thinking about the families who may still be waiting word about whether or not their loved one was on that bridge. I think about the families who had children on that school bus they kept showing on the news--the one that was so close to falling. I bet those parents are shaken at how close their children came to disaster and are thankful for those who helped get the kids off the bus and to safety. I keep thinking about all the rescue workers who'll have to go back to work at first light on Thursday, and am amazed at how they put their own lives in danger to look for survivors and bodies of victims.

When I wrote this post, they only had 7 confirmed dead at the site. I have a feeling that number will increase dramatically. I hope you'll join me in praying for any survivors to be found. And for the families and friends of those who lost their lives.

  1. Yes Missy, this is one of those tragedies that reminds us how grateful we need to be. And not to take anyone for granted because you never know if you may have kissed them goodbye for the last time.
It's also one of those that makes us think of our fellow man. Yes, we all need to be praying for these people.

  3. I saw the tragedy too. My heart plummeted. I began praying and have prayed often since I found out. I'm so sorry for the loss and pain that the people in the bridge collapse must endure. I'm so sorry for that pain. God be with you all.
