Six days Seven nights

No, I don't mean the Harrison Ford movie...
I mean ACFW conference ~ my preparation!

As I type this post, we have six days and seven nights until the ACFW conference.

My business cards have arrived.

My one-sheet is done

A one-liner for my story is in my head. It has been ever since I met the Snowflake Method.

I prefer to keep things loose. Pitch is such a strict word. I never "pitched" balls very well when I played team sports. Whether it was softball, basketball or dodgeball. So I'm staying away from that word because it brings up all these childhood memories I try to avoid. (Sports weren't my thing). The "P" word equals quickly sharing my book with another person who could be interested in it. Or not. Yes, the "P" word is simply too restricting and frightening. Please don't use it around me.

This time next week, four of the FAITH girls will be reporting from Dallas.

I can hardly wait.

The Wal-mart list for travel essentials is made.

I haven't decided which outfits I'm taking with me, but they're lined up in the closet, awaiting my decision.

My goal for conference is to enjoy myself, learn more about writing - the business and the craft, and make some meaningful connections. This event is costing too much money for me to arrive at the hotel and start freaking out.

I started worrying over things months ago. Things like fear, doubt, selfish thoughts, all set in. They wait to destroy the walls of faith I've built. I feel like the workers in the book of Nehemiah who built the wall around Jerusalem. They were hit from all sides. They had to be on guard during work and sleep. Nehemiah's faith and leadership saw the wall to completion in an amazing 52 days.

I'm determined to leave the enemy at home, on my doorstep where he likes to hang out. His red fanny can just stay there, because there's no room at the Marriott for him.

  1. Whoo-hoo! You tell him, Christy! Know what? I was on the island of Kauai when they were filming that movie. Everywhere we drove, we'd see signs that said 6D 7N. So of course we had to see the movie as soon as it came out. And we recognized a lot of the places, too.
As for conference, I can't wait either. I finished my shopping today. Got some new outfits. Paired some new pieces with existing ones. Still have tons of other stuff to do though. Although I do have my pi. . .er, make that info about my story ready :-)
Oh, and I don't know who taught you to count, but there are only 6 nights :-)
