Thank-FULL

As I prepare to head to the "farm" for the Thanksgiving holiday, I'm stressing. Gotta remember this. Don't forget that. One year, we were thirty minutes down the road when it dawned on me I'd forgotten the turkey. That's now a standing joke on trips to our family ranch. "Got the turkey?" my husband always asks.

Thankfully, I've got the turkey. Not to mention a van-load of other stuff that we just can't live without. Or so we think. Truth is, we'd make due. But what is it I'm truly thankful for? What would leave a gaping hole in my life if I no longer had it?

My family. My wonderful husband, three beautiful daughters, and two handsome boys. My mother, mother-in-law, grandsons, granddaughter, and son-in-law-to-be. Yes, I've noticed that my Christmas list seems to get longer every year. And how blessed am I for that. It blows my mind to think that this one person--me, an only child--has become so many. Amazing.

I'm thankful for the friends God has given me. From all walks of life. Each one adds their own unique flavor to my life.

I'm thankful for the gift of writing. I can't imagine not doing it. Not seeking God's will and how He would have me use His words. Which leads me to what I'm most thankful for, and that's my relationship with Jesus Christ. This year has brought more growth in my spiritual life than I ever imagined. Yet I have so far to go. It's hard to relinquish ourselves, daily, to let God use us for His Holy purpose. Because let's face it, often times, His purpose is different from ours. Yet it's always so much better. So long as we let go and let Him lead the way.

What would leave a hole in your life? Take some time. Think about it. Then let me know.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  2. I just have to tell you that my kids always joke that I leave the veggies in the microwave and forget them until after dinner:-)

A hole: God, kids, hubby, family, writing, singing, vision, speaking, friends, pets...I feel very blessed. I think if I took away any part of my life that God has given me, I would feel it deeply.

  3. If I didn't know Christ, there would be a huge hole - how would I handle any thing that was put before me?
