Things You Never Knew About

I just tried a new thing I never knew existed before. Never even imagined it. Our Japanese exchange son received a package from his mom. In it were lots of fun candies and something completely unusual. Green Tea Cake!

It's a small green sponge cake with a mild flavor. I think it would be the perfect thing for a Christmas Tea.

Each time we get to try something new from Japan, he wonders if we'll like it. We wondered the same thing each time he tried something new with us. We're finding common ground sampling things we never knew existed.

We now know we love Pocky, Pretz, and Green Tea Cake. We found out that we all love curry and that curry is common in Japan. Sure, we've had curry before. But to have it made in an everyday style like a normal Japanese family would eat and also try Panko Chicken with green onion sauce...mmm, mmm, good! (And by the way, he loves my cooking, yay!)

It is so much fun to try new things!!!

Come see the new genres I'm trying and other fun new things I try over at my daily blog.
PS I am giving away a book on parenting this week;-)

  1. Ang,
For some reason I think I've had Panko Chicken before. And I love curry.
I bet that green tea cake was good. How fun is it that you get to try all this new stuff.
Let us know how it all is.
I bet your daughter is trying different things also and will come home with a new love for something we've never heard of.

  2. My middle daughter loves Pocky. The strawberry variety. She'll go through a box all by herself in no time flat. How cool that you get to experience things with this boy and vice versa. Sounds like a great time for all.

  3. Well, this is all new to me!

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun and both your family and your Japanese son are learning about each others cultures. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Sounds interesting. I'd love to talk to him and ask him questions.
