Beginning With The End

There are many aspects in creating a story. Creating the characters, picking the setting, deciding the internal and external conflicts. And those are just a few.
Then there's the actual writing process. Writing the beginning, middle and end.
The End.
As writers we just love those words, don't we?

Yesterday I went to a bridal shower for a friend's daughter. As I was shopping for a gift, I found a fabulous picture frame that tells a story. It has about 6 pages and it starts out with something day two people met and really liked each other...there is a place to put a photo. Then it goes on with page two and so on. When you get to the last page it doesn't say The End.
It says The Beginning.
How clever.
And when we take a really good look a lot of the stories we write are that way. When we quit typing on the pages our hero and heroine have just begun a life together.
I like that!
What about you?

  1. Girlfriend,

Where you been ?? Oh yes, never mind, "down south!" EVERY day is a new beginning, start that way, awaken the hero, surprise us !!!! Get to writing, Im still wating for something to critique!!! Isnt idol great ?? Its going to be a guy this year for sure !!! Hi, ho, Hi ho, its off to work I to you soon,

    Love you !

  2. It is the beginning. And if we've done our job well, readers will remember those characters and wonder what they're up to a week or month later. :)

  3. What a wonderful concept. Thanks for sharing.
