Parents, Take Your Position

A near tragedy occurred in my extended family this week. As always, those of us who are believers in our family started the phone calls to create a prayer chain. We rallied together, prayed, clung to the verses that God had lain upon our hearts. My cousin will survive, but God's work is yet to begin.

My uncle's heart was breaking for the life of his youngest child. And as my mother prayed for her brother and his son, this verse kept coming to her spirit, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6) This is God's Holy Word. It is truth. Believe in it with all your heart, regardless of what you see and experience. This verse is one of God's promises to us.

I remember my mom repeating this verse in prayer years ago over my brother, on her knees with tears streaming down her face. Now he is God's child.

How many parents are heartbroken over their children, fearful that they have turned from the Lord, and may not come back before it's too late? Take courage in this verse. If you have raised your children in the way they should go, know that God's hand is upon them. Sometimes God is waiting on us to let go, so He can do the work that we can't.

When you've tried all that you can, let go. It's no longer your battle, but God's. Take your position--on your knees. You are now called to be a Prayer Warrior for your child.

"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." (Galatians 6:9)

  1. Beautifully said, Jenn. I'm still praying for your cousin and the whole situation.

  2. Thanks Jennifer, I am praying. I think it must be interesting that so many warriors never knew they'd be called to fight. In fact, I would guess that most warriors don't even consider themselves as such.
    And yet...they are.
