This is the scene that greeted us every morning on our last beach trip. Now I ask you, who wouldn't want to move here? It's gorgeous! We took our in-laws as a Mother and Father Day gift. It gave them special time to spend with our daughter and us precious time with them as well.

I'll always remember this trip. After we returned home we discovered my father-in-law had a tear in the aorta in his heart that they didn't think they could perform surgery due to the condition of his lungs. This is when you grab hold of memories and tuck them away deep in your heart because you don't know if that was your last trip with them or not.

One of the things that has stayed with us, is how my father-in-law refused to eat lunch when we all stopped in at a restaurant. He held out for the coffee, donuts and ice cream. That was his lunch. You have to give the man credit. He knows what he wants. The photo to the left is my father-in-law beside my daughter taking rest on a pier. He already had his appetizing lunch in mind.

During that whole trip he spent a good portion of his time laying in the shade of our balcony, listening to the waves roll in and just smelling the salty breeze. I could tell he loved it and didn't want to leave. Later, after they had received the doctor's prognosis, he told my husband,"If I have to be put on bedrest, just take me back to the beach and set me out of that balcony and I'll be happy."

  1. I know you loved the beach, too, Jenn. Maybe you'd have to go with him :-) I'm praying for your FIL. What a great man--he like donuts and ice cream for lunch!

  2. That's such a great photo! I'm assuming that's your husband and MIL as well.

    Thanks for sharing.

Okay, now I'm ready for another trip to the beach!! Lindi just got back yesterday. No fair. :)
