We're Baaaaack

Wow! What an awesome conference. Different from previous years, yet unique and wonderful in it's own right. And way to short.

The book signing at the Mall of America exceeded everyone's expectations. The food was beyond yummy. Especially those desserts :-) There were more opportunities than ever to meet with agents and editors. The hotel was beautiful and, as always, the people were fantabulous.

ACFW is growing at a phenomenal rate. This was the largest conference ever, with 512 attendees. And you never know who you're gonna run into. Who'da thunk that Sarah Palin was so into ACFW? LOL. This is my friend Lynne Gentry. On the way home, no less than two people approached her at the airport and said, "Has anyone ever told you you look just like Sarah Palin?" Lynne, you may have a new career as a double.

Here are some of the highlights from my ACFW conference experience.

  • John Olson's Advanced Fiction Writing class. Brother, you are so gracious and generous. And what a teacher!

  • The Mall of America book signing was not to be missed. And our own Missy Tippens was part of it. How exciting!

  • Celebrating with my critique partners. Janice Olson (on the left) took third place in the mystery category of the Genesis contest, while Jane Thornton won first! Unfortunately, Jane couldn't come this year, but Lena Nelson Dooley (right), our lovely mentor, gladly accepted on her behalf.

  • The atmosphere. I adore the fact that we are a Christ-centered organization. The worship helped us to focus. The prayer room offered solace from the chaos that sometimes accompanies an event like this.

  • Keynote speaker Angela Hunt continued to direct our focus upward, reminding us Who it is that we're writing for.

  • Reveling with my friend, Beth Wiseman, in her first ACFW conference experience. Not to mention she got to take part in the mega book signing at the Mall of America.

  • Imagine seeing yourself on the jumbotron in the rotunda of the MOA!

I could go on and on, but you'd be here for hours. The best thing about ACFW this year was seeing my F.A.I.T.H. sisters. All of us together since we started this blog. I love you guys! Did I mention that this conference was just to dog gone short?
