It's Not About Me (well it sort of is...this interview is about the author of that book title.)

Angie: The cover is really special to me. Two of my sons and my daughter-in-law are the cover models!!! Since Michelle has had quite a few stops on the blog tours lately, we went in another direction. A quirky one that fits in a little more with the Young Adult theme of the book. (Okay, really it is Angie's way of zipping around life and never staying in one spot too long, lol.)

Now here is a fun question: (and if you already know, you can't tell.) Which of the young men on the front is married to my daughter-in-law? Can you guess who it is in "real" life?

This is the author Michelle (on the left) with Angie (in the middle) and our lovely agent, Tamela together at the ACFW 2008 conference just a few days ago!

Here's a teaser about Michelle's book and then we'll get into the interview:
Annie has it all. She's attractive, graduated with honors, was accepted at the college of her choice, has supportive parents, good friends, and a steady boyfriend who loves her. One night an unexpected visitor appears and Annie's safe world is destroyed by a brutal attack. As she tries to pick up the pieces of her broken life, she is torn between two brothers, both of whom claim to love her. She is attracted to both, but which one does she love? How can she choose when her decision may cause a permanent rift between them? And more important, will she give her heart to the One who will sustain her even when human love fails?

Missy asks:
1. What's something that most people don't know about you?

Michelle: My mother was a nun and left the convent before she met my dad.

2. What's one of your pet peeves?

Michelle: When stuff is left in the kitchen sink like eggshells and wrappers.

Another Angie tidbit: My good friend, Julie Cowan, is also the professional photographer for this book cover!

Now Belinda asks:
1. If you had to write a story entirely using animals, which animal would be the hero and why? Heroine and why?

Michelle: I already have her cat Persnickety in the book. She calls her Snicky and she is a wise cat with a great ear. I don't use her point of view though. I'd always wanted to write a story from a Chihuahua's point of view (Yo quiero Taco Bell) - just kidding.

2. What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

Michelle: Mint chocolate chip.

Angie: Michelle, this is a good story, but I hear you have more to it. Tell us what is coming next.

Michelle: This is a trilogy so there are two more stories to tell. The next book in the Second Glance Series comes out in 2009. Then one more in 2010. I take a character from the first book and expand her story in the second. Then in the third, I can't tell or it would spoil the ending of the first. sigh. Well, you'll have to wait and see :-D

Angie: I have to say it's been a fun and quirky interview! I hope it's been fun for all of you too.

Thank you so much to Michelle Sutton for stopping and playing today. (And thank you for bringing Tony with you in the comments, lol.)

Michelle:You bet! Thank you for having me.

Angie: Don't forget to visit God Uses Broken Vessels for even more fun and quirky adventures with Michelle's book, It's Not About Me, today.

  1. Thanks for being with us today, Michelle!

I have to say, it's really strange for me to look at the cover, knowing it's Angie's kids on there. Her boys look so much like her! :)

Michelle, I've heard great things about your book! I can't wait to read it.

Hey, this is Devan (or Tony as readers would know me). The three of us had a great time shooting for the cover and we have been so excited to finally get our copy of the book! I really did my best to nail Tony's look. I laughed a little when I saw the cover, because I guess I went a little over the top with my hair. In the original pictures it was all over the place. This is the first time I can say that my hair was censored.

  3. LOL, Devan. But he also pointed out to me that I have the Left and Right mixed up on Tamela and Michelle's photo. Go figure. Too busy zipping so I'll go zap that fixed.

  4. I've read the book, it's great! Oh, and Devan, it must be pretty cool to see yourself on the cover of a book? How surreal....
