What Makes a Good Christmas Party?

Consider today's post a poll. This time of year there are so many parties. Heck, I have two to attend tonight alone. One of them I look forward to all year long. Why? I'm not exactly sure. It's a cookie swap/ornament exchange. We eat and chat. I don't know most of the women who come, yet there is something about Drenda's annual party. Perhaps it's the warmth of the hostess, the way she makes everyone feel special.

So I want to hear from you. What are the elements of a fun holiday party? The guests? The food? The host/hostess?

I'm still continuing the 25 Days of Christmas over on my personal blog. Hope you'll stop by for a visit.

  1. I went to a wonderful party last night. It's a group of ladies who we've dubbed the Ladies' Night Out group. (you'll see them thanked in my next book). We usually always eat out when we get together, and at Christmas go somewhere nice. But this year one of the women invited us to her house. (Mainly so we could take our time and laugh as loud as we want.) LOL

It was wonderful. And the hostess made it so special. She has a real gift for doing it. Nice touches like using real crystal and china, gorgeous decorations, etc. We did the fun gift exchange (white elephant). And we, of course, laughed a lot.

    A great night!

  2. I haven't gone to a Christmas Party in a few years. The last one my husband and I went to was for my work and we dressed up. I actually got my husband on the dance floor. He doesn't like to dance like I do, so I was on the floor by myself or with a group most of the time!

Have fun at your party, Mindy!

  3. I think good parties are a combination of good food, relaxed people, lots of laughter, and a hostess who makes sure to connect her guests to each other.

The hard part is figuring out how to start the laughter. But once it is going, the sky is the limit.
