Managing Writing Time

A few months ago I made a private commitment to God and myself that I would not sacrifice my time with Him and my family to have more writing time--or my sleep. As a result, I'm lucky if I manage to write more than 3,000 words each week. As I poke along at a snail's pace, I can't help wondering if there is some way I can create more writing time without quitting the very necessary full-time job that my family depends on.

If I have to stop to replot my story, research some more, or deal with temporary writer's block, the time these issues take is even more critical. It means no writing is getting done at all.

I know that I've made the right decision, so now I have to learn to accept accomplishing less--or less than what I would like to accomplish in the time I have available.

Acceptance has been hard for me, but with God's help, I'll achieve it and accomplish writing what I can.

  1. Jenn, I'm sure God will honor your promise. He'll bless the time you do have. There have been many times where I've prayed that God would multiply the effects of my few hours of sleep. And I've managed to get by during those times as if I had had more sleep.

So try praying for God to multiply your writing time so that you're more efficient, more productive than ever!

  2. Missy, That's a great idea! I'll do that. I wrote 3K yesterday!

  3. I read Missy's comment, then yours, Jenn... Looks like you are already being blessed! I'll pray for your productivity as well!
