Christian Book Expo

Mindy here. Imagine some of the biggest names in Christian writing, fiction and non-fiction, all under one roof. That's exactly what happened this past weekend at the first-ever Christian Book Expo in Dallas. They brought together the world's most popular writers and speakers. People like Randy Alcorn, Andy Andrews, Henry Blackaby, Terri Blackstock, Allison Bottke, Wanda Brunstetter, Gary Chapman, Patsy Clairmont, Steve and Mary Farrar, Shaunti Feldhahn, Ruth Graham, Liz Curtis Higgs, Jerry Jenkins, Dr. Kevin Leman, Max Lucado, Beverly Lewis, Janette Oke, Stormie Omartian, Lee Strobel, Sheila Walsh, and Thema Wells are just the tip of the iceberg.

Three days of events and book signings. I got to hang with crit partners Jane Thornton, Lynne Gentry, and Kellie Gilbert, in addition to hob-knobbing with my favorite authors at the ACFW booth.

Friday and Saturday were capped off by one of the most spectacular worship experiences I've ever seen. Part music, part spoken, God was at the center of these moving productions. And where else are you able to hear such a cross-section of speakers on topics ranging from child-rearing to spiritual growth to writing? They even had activities and classes for the kids. It was definitely a family affair.

All indications are that they'll be bringing the expo back again next year. So if you're looking for an event that'll feed your spirit, your creative well, and a penchant for books, look no further than the Christian Book Expo.

  4. I've been reading a lot of reports, but I love the fact that all these authors were in one place. I would have had a ball!
