Life

Ever have those times when life just seems to explode? I mean, you're coasting through the days and weeks, and then all of a sudden you hit a stretch of rough road. Or worse yet, you hit a big pothole and bottom out.

That's a little how I'm feeling lately. I haven't bottomed out by any stretch, but things are getting bumpier. Or maybe it's more like a detour. Lots of things to pull me out of my normal routine. Spring break is next week for our kids. Which means the schools are all trying to cram in as many events as they can. Baby girl is getting ready for a mission trip. We need to find some way to occupy the boys. The big Christian Book Expo is in Dallas the end of next week. And we recently got word that our two year old granddaughter will be coming to live with us for 5-6 months while her Navy mama attends another school. Can you hear my knees knocking together?

All of this means I'm not going to get to do some of the things I want. I'm gonna have to rethink the way I do things. How will I write when I've got a toddler who needs to be watched like a hawk? Any mom's with young kids out there got advice?

Once again, I remind myself that none of this is a surprise to God. He's not up there going, "Oh my, where did this one come from? I didn't plan that." He knew all of this would happen before He laid the foundations of the world. So I guess I shouldn't worry so much. Instead, I just need to lay it at His feet and trust Him to guide me through whatever hills and valleys lie ahead. After all, He's the Man with the plan.

When was the last time life threw you a curve ball? How did you react?

  1. Remember, He doesn't promise us a smooth path - just that He will get us through the tough times!

And don't know what to say about the granddaughter! Hopefully she comes with a really sturdy and large playpen...

  5. I had a curve ball today. I got a speeding ticket!

What did I do? I cried!

    :)

It happened on the way to church. And I got pulled over in the church parking lot. So mortifying!! I'm sure the officer probably noticed the name of the pastor on the church sign happened to be the same last name as the criminal in the car.

Just a real curve ball day!

    But God is good.

And Mindy, I don't remember anything from when my kids were that young! Your boys are younger than my baby.
