A New Murphy's Law

Missy here. I’ve discovered there’s a new Murphy’s Law. And oh, how ironic! LOL

Used to, when I drove, I would want to get all lights green and avoid all traffic snarls. Makes sense, doesn’t it? Very logical. And the longtime Murphy’s Law (my own take) says that the more you’re in a hurry, the more traffic jams you’ll hit.

Well, enter new technologies. And my new phone. I now have an unlimited text/data plan. So now I can check email on my phone! Thus, the new Murphy’s Law…

You see, the first weekend I had the capability to check my email, I was driving to a Georgia Romance Writers meeting. As I travelled down Jimmy Carter Blvd. (lots of stop lights), I thought I would check email at each light. Now, usually, if I’m in a hurry, I get every single light red (the old law). But this time, I was excited to have time to check my email! And, would you believe, I only got like one red light?? I mean, come on, I WANT the red lights now!! But NO. The new law came into play. Here’s the new law: If you’re in a hurry and don’t have phone email, you’ll get every light red. But if you need to check your email, you’ll get every light green.

I think there’s a message in there. Maybe I’m supposed to be learning patience or something. LOL

What about you? What Murphy’s Laws seem to hit you most often?

Missy
P.S. I may not have Internet access today but will check in as soon as I can!

  1. Is it really Murphy's Law, or just God reminding us that HE'S in control? :-)

  2. When you're late and driving XX miles over the speed limit, every driver obeying the traffic laws are in front of you.

Actually, I don't consider this one of murphy's laws, but God's way of protecting me. From accidents and traffic tickets. My children jokingly call me "the fast and the furious" on the road, but truthfully I'm usually just running late. (Notice I didn't tell you how fast over the speed limit is the norm for me.)

  3. So true, Mindy! :)

And it's kind of like Dianna said. Maybe to protect me. :)

    Thanks for popping in, Dianna!

  4. Stuff like that always happens. I used to like to read at traffic lights...when I was reading something good I got all the green ones.

  6. That is why I don't need email on my cell phone. I'd never get off of it, and it would be too dangerous for me to drive like that.

  7. LOL, Jenn. Yeah, I'm very careful to only do it when I'm totally at a stop light. No cheating!
