Microsoft OneNote

Well, I’ve had a crazy day. Something happened to my Word program a couple of days ago. Some file got corrupted, I guess. So I couldn’t open most of my documents. I was going to reinstall my copy of Microsoft Office 2000, but then I remembered we bought Office 2007 with my daughter’s new computer! And it allows copies on three computers in your home. So I installed it on my laptop.

LOL.Well, it wasn’t actually that easy. It was a bit traumatic because it gave an error message and said it was undoing the installation. But then after giving up, I went to try to open a document, and it opened Word 2007! Strange but true. I just pray it keeps working!

Later, I was thrilled to see that Microsoft OneNote was also included in this version of Office. I’d heard a good bit of discussion about it from other writers, so I’ve been playing with OneNote all evening. I just did some online research for the proposal I’m working on and pasted it right into a note. Really cool!

So what I did was start a new notebook for my WIP. Then I’ve created tabs for each character, one for research and one for ideas. I also left the tabs that were already there for miscellaneous, travel and planning. I think I’m going to use the planning tab to try to keep a list/outline of all scenes so I can keep a map of the story.

So if you’ve never heard of the program, check it out. After playing with OneNote a while longer, I’ll be sure to let you know how it’s going.
