Keeping Up the Blogs

Jenn here.

I'm behind in my blogging. Usually I sit down and do 2-3 weeks worth of blogs so I don't have to worry about it, but now my 2-3 weeks are up and I still haven't had time to sit down and write more blogs, so its all caught up with me. I've been out of town and sick this week. I haven't had my normal energy level.

When I have weeks like this I have to let something go. This week it has been the blogs. My manuscript writing has to come first. After working an 8 hour day yesterday, driving an hour in traffic, attending my daughter's swim practice, and getting home rather late, I still wrote a new scene.

But I admit, I could barely keep my eyes open. I had to lower the brightness on my screen and at 10:45 PM my husband starting fussing at me to go to bed and telling me I had been up since 4 AM. (I got up that early to write.) I'm a typist so I can type with my eyes closed. I think he thought I was falling asleep at the computer. But the scene was in my head and ready to flow out of my fingers.

Any of you ever fall asleep at the computer? Or do you manage to keep typing like me? My body and eyes may be shutting down, but my mind and my fingers are still going. I suppose as long as I don't fall out of my chair, I'll be okay.

  1. Jenn,

I find myself falling asleep as my fingers are flying over the keyboard. I don't dare close my eyes to type - I would go to sleep, fal face forward and end up with an impression of the keyboard on my face! :)

  2. Usually when I get that tired I just pack it up. By that time my brain is working anyway!

  3. If I'm that tired I'm also ill-tempered. Time for me to go to bed.
I think that's awesome you were able to throw down a scene even that tired. Way to go!

  4. Edwina, I think I've had that keyboard impression before! :)

Jenn, I usually just nod off, so I can't keep typing. My head starts bobbing! But a lot of times I'll go ahead and sleep for a few minutes, then wake up and start again. I've had a few blog posts written after a 1 am nap!
