Writing Retreat

Christy Here.

I'm coming down from a 6-day work week. A hectic one at that. I slept in late today, something I never do, but working 6 days a week, being gone 9-10 hours a day will take its toll on anyone, especially this expectant mommy.

But I'm not feeling down-trodden. Nope, I'm looking ahead to this coming week when my 2 critique partners and I will escape to a quaint lake cabin to get some much needed writing done.

Today I'll be buried under a lot of laundry and packing, but I want to be out the door early come Wednesday. A three day writing trip! AH! Love it!

My CPs and I will stock up on nourishing food, have our laptops powered up and smoking the words we pour into them.

I just hope I don't hit a brick wall like I did last year. I couldn't write squat. Not even a simple blog post - of course, I don't think I tried that.

Yes, I have 2 more days of work, and then I'm off, for my mini-writing vacation.

Anyone else have any plans this summer for a writing retreat?

  1. The closest thing I get to a writing retreat is an hour stretch in my office without the cats bothering me...

    Enjoy yours, though!

  2. Hope you have a good time, Christy. I board a plane on Friday and head to a writing retreat in PA with my editor and other Abingdon authors.

  3. Christy, I just have to give you a hard time. You said:

Okay, I want to see a computer smoke words!! ;)

    Sorry, couldn't resist. LOL

I hope you have a wonderful, productive... smokin' time! :)

  4. Thanks Diane!

Jenn, I didn't realize your writing retreat in PA was coming up so soon. I know you'll have a blast!

And Missy, LOL! I'm grinning big over here. The last time the laptop was quiet dead - of course, so was my story ;) - so I hope to have a little writing action this time around. Smoking, sizzling, fingers burning, head aching I've been writing so much. That's what I'm looking for!!!

  5. I am SO jealous. I'm tempted to pack up and run off the ranch for a week and take a brainstorming buddy. Although, with a two year old in tow, the writing would be limited. But with someone else there, we could brainstorm all day long!

  6. My plans are to compete for Mrs. International. I think it's an amazing way to meet like-minded people. All those accomplished women in one place has got to be incredibly inspiring!

In my spare time I am finishing a companion journal to Insanity Rules: Gems of Wisdom so people can download it as an ebook later this fall.
