A Passion Denied by Julie Lessman--Review

A Passion Denied—My Favorite Yet
Review by Missy Tippens

A few weeks ago, I interviewed Julie Lessman on my personal blog, as well as shared an excerpt from A Passion Denied. And now, after finishing the book, I’m thrilled to tell you all about it!

I have to say, first, that this is my favorite of Julie’s books so far. And I guess that’s partly because after reading about Brady in the previous book, I was dying for him to have his story, and his happy ending. So needless to say, I was tickled when I received my copy of the book!

This is the story of Faith and Charity’s younger sister, Elizabeth/Beth/Lizzie. And boy, what a journey to her happy ending—including trying to convince Brady that he should be more than just a friend (or should I say trying to seduce him into realizing it!) :)

But Brady has always seen Beth as his little buddy. They’ve studied the Bible together since she was little. Plus, he’s dealing with a traumatic past and doesn’t feel worthy of her.

If you’ve already read a Lessman book, you know there’s never a straight path to a happy ending. In fact, you never know what may happen. So add John Brady’s twin brother in the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for a wild ride! Just when you think Lizzie and Brady’s relationship has a chance of working out, secrets come out that may change everything.
A lot of people describe Julie Lessman's books as edgy Christian fiction. But I think of them more as realistic. They deal with real physical attraction between people, real conflicts, real temptations. And sometimes her characters make bad choices (I did say realistic, didn't I!). But in the end, the characters learn from their mistakes and follow God's path for their lives.

Don’t miss A Passion Denied, the third installment of the Daughters of Boston series from Julie Lessman. But be sure to read the other two books first, in order! It’ll make it that much more rewarding.
Don't forget to stop by and read my interview of Julie, along with an excerpt right now! To do so, click here:

  1. Sounds like a great book! I can't wait to pick up a copy. I actually have Julie's first 2 books in my To Be Read pile.

    Thanks for the review!

  2. I'm reading book number one right now! I'll have to pick up the other books. The third one sounds great---all kinds of things going on. Yeah!!

And, I went to your blog Missy and read the excerpt. I loved it.

  3. Oh, good, Lindi! It's a fun excerpt. :)

  4. I also have Julie's first two books and I can't wait to read this one.

  5. Hi Missy:

I read “A Passion Denied” first and loved it.

I am now reading “A Passion Most Pure” , the first book of Julie Lessman’s “Daughers of Boston” series and I feel the story is actually enriched by my having already read the third book.

Logically it would seem best to read the three books in proper order but I actually think I am enjoying “A Passion Most Pure” more because I already know a lot about the characters. I really think that the more of this series you read, the more you are going to like the next book you read whichever book it happens to be.

  6. Vince, thanks for letting us know that. That way someone won't be discouraged about buying just one book.

So y'all buy the new one even if you don't have the others yet!! :)
