A Memorable Anniversary

Jenn here.

Yesterday was our anniversary -- 16 blessed years!

I've never experienced a Fondue meal and so my hubby went out and bought us a Fondue pot and planned this 4-course meal at home. He said he thought about taking me to the Melting Pot, a local place, but he wanted to do this himself. Isn't that sweet?

He told me how Fondue meals originated by the Swiss and became popular in the US in the 1950's - 1960's when tourists discovered it while traveling. He wanted to know if this gave me any ideas for a book. Now isn't this just like the spouse of an historical author? He knew I would ask reporter-like questions, and he made sure he had the answers. My hubby knows me so well.

He had picked out this beautiful piano music that he downloaded for our meal. It was soothing and peaceful. He said he loves piano music. I've been married to him for 16 years and never knew this. I only remember him listening to pop rock, country, Christian rock and praise & worship. He never ceases to amaze me. I love piano music and when I was little, I dreamed of piano lessons. Ever since I was in my early 20's, I've also dreamed of owning a baby-grand piano. I used to talk about it all the time, and I still don't remember him telling me he likes piano music. Maybe he feared I'd go out and buy one. It doesn't matter that I can't play it. They are beautiful instruments and I'd like it to look beautiful sitting there in my home.

He also bought us a chocolate fountain. He said he thought it would be great to own one and suggested I use it for my sister's upcoming baby shower. It worked great! We had chocolate covered strawberries, bananas, marshmellows, apples, and these little slices of orange cake. He made the experience memorable in every way. Perhaps I do have some new material for a story!
