Igniting a Passion to Pray

Missy here. I recently started a new Bible study with our ladies group. It's called Igniting a Passion to Pray, by Fern Nichols, Marlae Gritter and Janice Oldham, published by Moms In Touch International. I'm only finishing the first week's work but wanted to share a few Scripture verses that were meaningful to me as I read them this week.

Regarding peace as a benefit of prayer:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7

Regarding strength as a benefit of prayer:
When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted. Ps. 138:3

Why pray?
And I will do whatever you ask in my name [emphasis Missy's], so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. John 14:13.

I hope these were meaningful to you as well. I'd love to hear any verses or quotes that have spoken to you lately. I won't be online today but will be sure to check back this weekend. So please leave your comments! :)

  1. that sounds good to be in a good Bible study, I have a set of CDs that read the KJV of the Bible word for word and I have learned a lot by following along as he reads, I have learned thing that I have missed when I was just reading it myself. We can never learn enough about the Bible.

  2. I have been seeking the Lord recently on the direction I need to take. The verses He gave to me are Habakkuk 2:1-3 with strong empahsis on vs. 2: "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets..." This verse has stayed with me for over a week. I am still waiting to hear more from the Lord!

  3. I love those thoughts, all you ladies! At conference this weekend, I kept hearing the words to be strong and courageous. The book I'm starting is now titled, Courageous Beauty. I was shocked by how many different ways women demonstrated they were courageous beauties because of their reliance on God!

  4. Edna, that's a great point about listening to the Bible! Sometimes we hear things we don't tend to notice when we're reading (and vice versa).

Edwina, thank you for that verse! How cool is that? :)

Angie, isn't it amazing how God speaks to us?
