Life's Experiences

Jenn here. I'm in a log cabin in Gatlinburg, TN. You know you're in bear country when you're cruising around the bend to find people pulled over on both sides of the road and pointing up at the trees. and a baby black bear is hanging upside down on this tiny limb hanging over the road. I was actually afraid he was going to fall because he was quite high.

Then we later saw a wild turkey by the road, and our cabin has two black kittens hanging around who beg for milk. We can't deny them. They are so cute. What does this have to do with writing? Very little, except for the fact that we have to live a little to be able to write. Without life's experiences, I wouldn't know how to write.

I'm here in the mountains to enjoy the scenery, the colorful change in the leaves, enjoy family time, experience God's beautiful creation someplace different than home, and inspire some writing creativity. I even brought my new Scottish medieval dress for some new photos with the "highland" background. No such luck. We woke up this morning to pouring rain. My hubby still took photos of me by the stone fireplace and out on the balcony over the ledge with colorful trees in the background. It wasn't exactly the beautiful "highland" landscape I had in mind, but I suppose improvision was in order. Maybe tomorrow morning will be a little better.

PS -I have Missy's book with me and I plan to start it this weekend!

  1. Hey, Jenn, enjoy your trip. Bring back some photos of the bear and the scenery - even if its raining!

  2. I hope you're having a wonderful birthday!! Enjoy the rest and refilling of your spirit.

I bet that bear was so cute!! And I would have been worried, too.
