Favorite Quotes

Missy here. On Facebook and other social networks, they have a place for you to include your favorite quote. I wanted to share mine:

The place to which God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet.
Frederick Buechner

Have you found that place? Have you found your calling? Also, I'd love to hear your favorite quotes.

  1. Great quote, Missy. Thanks for sharing. I feel like that place for me is when I write. Writing is a passion and sharing Christ love does meet the world's deepest hunger. That hunger most of the world can't even recognize.

My favorite quote is posted on my website right now (www.diannashuford.com) and it is: the pen is mightier than the sword. I don't remember the person who said it right off hand (check my website for that), but I always think of that quote when I'm writing because a good story can cut across many objections. Winning someone over to Christ by stealth (modeling through sucessful lifestyles) can be more successful than trying to debate your beliefs. At least, that's my opinion anyway.

BTW- at home sick today, but I just finished a chapter. One more to go to finish this draft. I can't wait!

  2. Oh, Missy, I forgot to say that I just started His Forever Love yesterday. (A bit late I know.) I'm enjoying it immensely.

  3. This is one of my most favorite quotes and is also on my site.

"There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them are without signification." 1 Corinthians 14:10

Where the Lord has me and sometimes I struggle to run away from is in the field of childcare and untraditional foster care. I just feel the need to supply love and consistency in the life of little children.
My other quote is something from my heart and the premise of a book I wrote-
“I feel that we as Americans are all equal and held together by a common thread. Like a treasured beaded necklace of different colors held together on a string, we are held together by our necessities and our circumstances and our humanity. Every color helps to make the necklace beautiful. We can never be a totally separate entity! Americans of all colors are so integrated that if we hurt one, we hurt all. Just like that necklace of treasured beads, leave one out and the gap is seen. Break the chain and many of us are lost.”
It is a belief I know God has placed in me.

  4. Missy,
I love that quote! I have many - most of them are Scriptures and my favorites will sometimes "rotate" depending on where I am in life. Currently, my favorite verse is:
"Write my answer on a billboard, large and clear, so that anyone can read it at a glance and rush to tell the others." Habakkuk 2:1

  5. Great quote, Dianna! Thanks for sharing it.

I hope you feel better soon! But I'm sure you don't mind a day at home to write every now and then. :)

  6. The Voice,

What a wonderful calling! There's nothing more important than taking care of children.

Thank you so much for sharing. And also for sharing your beautiful premise/belief statement. I totally agree.

  7. Edwina, thanks so much for sharing that Scripture! I think I remember you sharing previously that God had been speaking to you about that (and your writing). :)
