NanowriMo

Belinda here.
I think I got the title write. National Writing Month abbreviated. It's a great idea and has a HUGE following. I did it last year. Goal is to write 50K words in the month of November. It's a great motivator. You can check it out here.

I forget how many words I wrote last year. It wasn't 50K but it was a lot. I didn't do it this year for 2 reasons. One I was on vacation the first week and I knew I wouldn't get a lot of writing done. And second, I'm still revising the book. So I don't want to start anything new right now.

Although I did hand write 2 scenes for the new manuscript while on vacation. That was fun but made me very grateful for my computer. I hope I can read my writing when trying to type it in later.

Have any of you ever tried NanowriMo? We'd like to hear about it. Or what other ways do you find to write a lot of words. Lynn Rush if you're out there we'd love to hear from you!! You write a lot of words! Fast!

  1. Hey Belinda!

Catching you before I go to work here. Hope your vacation was wonderful, and I'm glad to hear you're still plugging away. I've never done the NaNoWriMo Challenge. I thought about it this year, but like you I've got to finish and revise the story I'm on. Only four more chapters to go to be done with the draft!

  2. I've always thought of NaNoWriMo as a torture device. And why in November? That timing doesn't work for me either. Apparently not for others either since last year I saw people changing to Janowrimo--January.
All that said, I could see myself trying it sometime. Whenever I feel up for a good challenge.

  3. Dianna!! Whoo-hoo! 4 more chapters. That's great. I can't wait till you are finished. Then we'll count down to the send off.

  4. There is a reason for the November timing. Can't remember what it is right now.
It's a great motivator. They send you weekly emails.
And yes, you are right. It is a challenge.

  5. Dianna, keep at it! You're almost there.

I've done a Book in a Week a few times. It's more for just getting in a good week of work than for doing a whole book. I've had some success with that before. I'd love to try the November thing sometime if the timing is good.

  6. Missy,
It does motivate one to write. I've never done a whole draft either, but it is good for word count.
