Writing in a Snow Blizzard

Jenn here. We are snowed in and can't get out here in the NC mountains. You can see the beautiful view from our cabin in the photo on the left, but I have to admit that I'm a little paranoid about trying to get down the mountain once we check out tomorrow.

My daughter's swim meet was cancelled and our snow tubing is also a no-go since we can't go anywhere. Normally this would be some great writing conditions, but I've been suffering from a sinus headache and I'm wondering if it is the altitude level. On the way up here, I did manage to type in 1500 words on my sequel, Highland Sanctuary.

I've talked my husband into taking us hiking in the snow later. I'm sure that will get my creative juices flowing. Don't be surprised if one of my characters--in some future novel--end up in a snow blizzard.

So what recent experiences might end up in one of your future novels?

  1. Jenn, it's beautiful! I'm snowed in as well--even here near Atlanta!! We had to leave our car up the street yesterday. I just made a treaturous hike up the hill to get it just a few minutes ago. but I got down just fine. :)

YOu can check my peronsal blog for some photos!

As for putting it in a story, yes! I had the idea yesterday while driving home from a movie--which took 2 hours instead of 35 minutes. :)

  2. I just had a really horrifying experience crossing the border (that I blogged about last week). I'm definitely going to use that in my current wip. In fact, it happened in just the right time for me to be able to use it. :-) Haha!

    I hope your blizzard-writing goes well! :-)

  3. Thanks, Missy and Rebecca. Soon I'll be craving summer and I'll be wanting to insert beach scenes.
