Who Are You Listening To?

Mindy here, hoping you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend. I had fun spending time with my favorite veteran :-)

I recently finished a Bible study called Me, Myself, and Lies by Jennifer Rothschild. This wonderful study focused on self-talk, aka "our thought closet." Often times, we do not realize just how hard we are on ourselves. Even when things are going good, the enemy feeds us lies, and we readily buy into them, believing his fables and repeating them to ourselves over and over again. "You're so stupid." "You're not good enough." "What made you think you could do that?" The list goes on and on. In this study, Jennifer takes us on a journey to discover and, more importantly, focus on what God says about us.

Over the past six weeks, I've learned to stop negative self-talk in its tracks by tuning in to the Voice of Truth. And let me tell you, it has really come in handy. Casting Crowns song The Voice of Truth has always been one of my favorites, now it's become my mantra. So I hope you'll enjoy this video. And be sure to read the lyrics. I think they'll really speak to you.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Great points, Mindy. We've had a guest speaker at church who has spoken on this a couple of times in the past year. He advocated not only speaking aloud God's truth, but laughing at the enemies lies. Yes, laughing out loud. Very liberating.

  2. Hearing many of those lies from the enemy these days. Thanks for reminding me to listen for the still small voice of God as He speaks affirmations to me.

  3. I like that idea, Dianna. I kind of like to get in the enemy's face every now and then :-)

  4. Melinda, in our fast-paced world it's difficult to hear that small voice because it gets drown out by so many other things. I love it when the Holy Spirit prompts me with scripture. "I CAN do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." And Satan hates it when we break out the Sword of Truth.
