Going to the Ends of the Earth

Missy, here. Last night at our local ACFW chapter meeting, our speaker, Susan Norris, reminded me about a verse in Acts.

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Susan did an amazing, inspiring program, talking about how, in this verse, we're called to witness locally, farther from home, AND to the ends of the earth. For many of us, we won't be able to go out into the world. BUT...we can do so with our writing.

I was so touched by this. I hadn't thought of my writing, my books, as such a witness. But so far, I know that my books have been released in South Africa and the Netherlands. I'm hoping on my next royalty statement in May to find they're in other countries as well. What an mind boggling thought. God can use the stories I create (with His help!) to touch people in other parts of the world.

I think that's pretty good motivation to keep us writing! Does that encourage you?

  1. I messed up and posted too early! I'm sorry. I was distracted watching the weather report. Lindi's area is being hit really hard right now. If you're online, please be praying! Possible tornado and straight line winds.

  2. Lindi, Christy and I are all fine. But it was a rough night in Georgia for a lot of people.

  3. Missy,
I enjoyed being with your group on Tuesday evening. You blessed me so I am glad to know you were blessed also. Can't wait to get one of your books. I am always looking for new authors to read, so I'm thrilled to have met a room full on Tuesday night.
    Blessings,
    Susan Norris

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12)

It is not just in the message that God’s glory is manifest, it’s also in the comfort that message brings.

When you lovingly provide those who seek refuge the comfort of stories that are pure in heart it goes beyond motivation.

Does one need to be motivated to eat one’s favorite meal?

  6. Vince, you always amaze me with your thoughtful comments.

And yes, I do know what you mean about reading requiring no motivation at all. A good story is a treat in itself.

  7. Glad you are all fine! Our neighbor's huge trampoline ended up lodged in the fence between our houses :)

And it is exciting to see your work circulate the globe :)

  8. Eva Maria, I'm glad you're okay! Although I'm sure the neighbor's kids aren't too happy.
