What Skills Do You Need To Reach Your Dream?

Angie here: How long has it been since you've been to school? Is it too late to go?

I take regular classes via webinars, email loops, and at conferences. At my age, you'd think I'd learned enough for my chosen career. But as fast as the publishing and business world is changing, it takes constant care in continuous education to keep a career moving forward.

One of the most helpful things in my education though is teaching. Beyond sharing what I've learned, each conference I teach for has different needs. Those needs cause me to go a little deeper, research further, offer more to others that come for continued learning.

I love it! I love learning as much as I love chocolate, reading, and singing. I've also heard it keeps our brains strong and helps stave off memory loss and dementia. I feel lucky to be in a country where we can learn all our lives and it's not limited.

Here are the next 2 conferences I'll be teaching at in August.

What do you do to supplement your education, build your career, and keep yourself mentally fit?

  1. I love learning, too! I'm taking a fantastic online class right now. It's taught by Laurie Schnebly Campbell. Called Plot Via Motivation.

I take probably 2 or 3 online classes a year. Love them!

  2. I read everything :) I try to keep up with all subject areas. I think lifelong learning is essential to everyone in every phase of life, even retirement. Life is just so full of interesting things :)

Have fun with your course Missy!

Enjoy teaching Angie! It really is one of the best ways to learn :)

  3. Right now I am taking two online courses. One is US history and the other is fashion fundamentals. I also read a lot to keep myself from becoming, mentally slower.

  4. I took creative writing classes from UniversalClass.com several years ago. I checked on their website just the other day and they now offer 43 "writing related" classes. They are offering a special: for $189 you can take all the classes you want in a 12-month period. I plan to sign up soon as I can!
