Here I Am

Mindy here, and today I'm going to reveal just some of the strange things that can go on in the mind of a writer. Writers will get this. Readers, this will give you glimpse into the world of a writer. Yes, we really do hear voices.

Not long ago, I was doing some mundane household chore, when this pretty blonde who looked kind of like a young Morgan Fairchild walked onto the stage of my brain and said, "Hi, I'm Celeste." Then she proceeded to tell me her story--who she was, where she lived, and how she got there.

Since this has never happened to me before, I was both shocked and excited. Even a bit honored. Celeste wasn't an in-your-face kind of person. On the contrary, she was very polite, and I got the feeling it took a great deal of courage for her to take such a bold step.

Though this was a new experience for me, I know other writers have had similar things happen to them. So writers, I ask you, has this ever happened to you before? Where's the strangest place you've ever met one of your characters?

Readers, what does this reveal to you about the mind of a writer? That we're just plain weird?

For now, Celeste will have to wait. Though I suspect she won't be put off for long. And honestly, I don't like putting her on a back burner. I'm eager to spend more time with her and get to know her. Who knows where she'll take me.

Happy Tuesday, y'all.

  2. I don't think I've ever had that happen. How cool! I hope you will write her story. :)

  3. Absolutely, it's happened with me while sitting, bored, at a stop light.

I've woken up with dreams of complete story lines too. That's how I came up with the one I'm working on now, Lucky's Draw.
