Drive

Christy here and in a couple of hours, I will be heading south to the Georgia Romance Writers Moonlight & Magnolia Conference. In a few hours, I'll be pitching to my "dream" publisher. Throughout today and tomorrow I'll be sitting in classes trying to learn more about my craft.

It's a sacrifice to my family and my time to go to things like this. Most of the time, I'm boarding a plane and spending a lot more money to attend one of these conferences. Guilt abounds. I'm leaving my children. My poor hubby will be on his own with much to do! Is this trip worth it? Why am I pursuing such a far-fetched dream?

I was talking to a friend of mine at work the other day.  She enjoys writing. Specifically, screenplays. She's written some and submitted. And guess what? She got rejected. I encouraged her to keep going. No, she said, she couldn't stand the rejection.

I've been rejected, too. It hurts. Bad.

People tell me they don't know how I do it - full time job, raising a family, other responsibilities, and writing. Sometimes, I don't know how I do it.  I know that I do not do it alone. Not only is my family there, but also and more important above all others, my Heavenly Father is there. If I did not have Him guiding my path, I would've given up long ago.  He is driving me to visualize my dream and recognize that others are realizing theirs. Others are reaching theirs. Look at the authors we've featured this week! They are writing for God and have succeeded. Look at the Ladies on this blog!  I can't give up when He is on my side.

I hope you'll consider what I'm saying if you're thinking about giving up. Weigh why you are wanting to give something up. Maybe you need to lay it down for a little while. But don't give up. Who's in the driver's seat? Is it you or God?  If it's God, He may take you where you need to go anyway.

Take care,

Angie, that's an awesome story! God was in control for sure!

Missy, it was great seeing you! As always, I wish there was more time to visit. We had some great workshops. Dianna and I are planning to propose a workshop for next year. I think we have learned a lot over the last few years and can offer newbies some good tips.
