Redeeming Love

Lindi here.

For years I have heard about the book Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

For years I was told by several people that I just had to read the book.

My daughter bought the book late this summer on the recommendation of her 2nd cousin at a family reunion.

My daughter brought it to my house a month ago for me to read.

It sat there.
And sat there.
There was something about that book---no one talked about it really, in detail, yet all said it needed to be read.

I finished Redeeming Love Thursday night.

What an experience.

I would love to tell you all about it, but I can't. It's unexplainable. But I will tell you how I felt the next day.

I felt like God knew just when I needed to read the book. I felt 'special' and I know this sounds weird, but I felt special that I got to read this book.

I understand now why people don't really 'talk' about it with people who haven't read the book. I'm sure everyone has their own experience reading it. My daughter and I talked about it at great length Friday night. Which parts stood out to her, to me. They were different for both of us. We shared how we were emotionally affected by a certain aspect or a certain scene.

There's an endorsement on the back of the book by Liz Curtis Higgs---"Simply put, Redeeming Love is the most powerful work of fiction you will ever read."

Wow---I now know what she meant.

What books have you read that have affected your life? We'd love to know!!

  1. You failed to mention you called me sobbing the next day after reading it, still so moved by it! :)

I read it years ago and thought it was amazing. I need to pull it back out.

  2. What a great endorsement you gave the book Lindi! :)

  3. Missy--Yes, I did fail to mention that!!
    It's truly an amazing book.

  4. Eva Maria--The book has so many healing aspects to it, I know it affects different people in different ways.
    All in God's time.
