Looking Toward the New Year

Missy, here. I'm posting this a week ahead of time (to enjoy time off with family). So I hope I don't duplicate what someone else has posted in the meantime. :)

Have you started thinking about new year's resolutions? Do you even make them? Resolutions or not, I think it's really important to sit down and write down goals for the upcoming year. It's good to figure out where we plan to head or else at the end of the year, we may find we're in the same place we started.

What are some goals you have for 2012? We'd love for you to share. We'll also be here to help you try to keep those resolutions and/or meet those goals!

  1. I'm home! I've been out of town and just got back to Internet. :) Whew. I enjoyed being away (with my family in KY), but I missed being online. :)

  2. Welcome back, Missy! Glad you enjoyed your family time and had a safe trip back home.

In the past, I've made resolutions only to break them before the end of January. I now try to set goals and I write them on the white board in my office so that I see them every day. My goals this year are:
    1. Develop a deeper relationship with God.
    2. To lose weight in order to be healthier.
    3. To complete my non-fiction (this one will be broken down into specific goals)

    Happy New Year!

  3. Missy--Yeah--you're back. :)

Edwina--I like the word goal better than resolution. Not sure why.

  4. That said, I guess I have a goal of finishing the novel I'm working on now and writing another one. That's writing-wise.
Another goal I have is to read more books on God---like Radical by David Platt--Captivating-John and Stasi Eldridge. I tend to always read fiction. I've enjoyed the non-fiction I've read--Love Wins-Rob Bell--Simple Church--Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geiger and Detox by David Putman.

  5. Oh, and I want to read the Bible Chronologically again. I love reading it that way.

  6. Edwina, such a great idea to put them up where you see them every day!

Lindi, reading some non-fiction is a great idea! I tend to stick to fiction as well. We need to broaden our horizons. :)
