God Sings Me Love Songs

Angie here: I was inspired by my new friend, Cynthia Daymon, when I met her last August at the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference. Though single, while I'm married, we met on the spirit level and had the most wonderful conversations. She has a fiery passion for the Lord and I want to share her with you today.

Meet Cynthia:
Cynthia Daymon

God Sings Me Love Songs

God speaks to us in many ways. I’ve found that it’s often through the things that we enjoy. If your passion is art, God will speak to you through pictures. If you’re a writer, it’s often through the words of others that you find inspiration, encouragement and teaching. God often speaks to me through examples in creation and through songs. I’ll be praying about something and realize there’s a song in my mind that’s telling me what to do or reminding me of God’s faithfulness to see me through.

Many people struggle to receive God’s unconditional love, even if they were raised in a loving, Christian home. This has been one of my biggest battles over that last several years. It was in those times of questioning God’s love for me that I’d hear a secular love song in my mind. It was often just the chorus, but sometimes when I looked it up, the whole song could be God singing to me. God would sing to me things like:

Make a list, baby
the things I’ll do for you
Ain’t no risk, now,
In lettin my
love rain down on you,
So we could wash away the past,
So that we may start ane

Cause it’s the only thing I wanna do
I don’t wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin yo

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

No man can make promises like I’m “never gonna say goodbye”. But God can! And He’ll keep on loving us, not matter how horrible we feel or how distant He seems. Sometimes I’ve even found myself singing a song back to Him. One of my current favorites is “When You Say You Love Me” as recorded by Josh Groban.

  1. Cynthia, thanks so much for your beautiful post! I've often thought the same thing--have felt God singing to me through music, even secular music.

Thanks so much for sharing! Your business of coaching creative people to handle the business side sounds like an amazing and much-needed service!

  2. Cynthia, what an interesting way to look at music!

  3. Thanks ladies for your encouragement and comments.

  4. Cynthia---I too, love music and words that go with music. There are some very gifted songwriters out there who can get those words working with that melody then they slam across our hearts with an impact we weren't prepared for.
Thanks for sharing some of your favorites.
