Missy Tippens, here. Today, I wanted to talk a little about local writers' groups. Writing can be such an isolated career that it's important to find some type of in-person support. Granted, online writing friends are wonderful! But nothing beats a chance monthly to network in person, to learn from speakers and to chat with other writers.
This past Saturday, Georgia Romance Writers had our regular meeting. Normally, Christy and Lindi would be there (as well as some of our regular blog visitors). But they couldn't make it this month. This photo (above) was taken with my very good friend and fellow Love Inspired author Debby Giusti. Debby writes wonderful, thrilling books for Love Inspired Suspense. We're also fellow bloggers on the Seekerville blog.
And here is a photo from the book signing that followed. I'm sitting beside debut Harlequin Medical author Susan Carlisle. I got a copy of her book, Heart Surgeon, Hero...Husband?, and can't wait to read it!
At our meetings, we always celebrate sales and contest successes. But we also celebrate rejections, because it's a sign that at least we're sending submissions out.
Publishing is a tough business, and it's nice to know we have friends online and in person who will be there to encourage and support us. What about you? Do you have a local writers' group?
