Stretching Out Valentine's Day

Missy, here. And I hate to let Valentine's Day go. So I thought I'd share with you a photo of the chocolate dipped strawberries I made for my kids. My daughter has always gone crazy for the dipped strawberries we see in the Godiva store, but I've never splurged and bought her one (they're about $7--each!). So I decided to surprise the kids this Valentine's Day. Instead of buying the usual candy I get them year after year, I had these waiting when they got home from school.

Chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolate dipped Ritz Bits Peanut Butter sandwiches. The kids loved them!

Though mine aren't as beautiful as the ones at Godiva, they were delicious!

In case you'd like to try this, I thought I'd share what I did. I just melted a bag of milk chocolate chips in the microwave with 3-4 tablespoons of half & half mixed in. I had to keep stirring and reheating to keep it smooth. Let dry on parchment or waxed paper. Very easy and worth the effort.

A lot of us write romance novels, so this is a big time of year to celebrate romance (and friendship love as well). I hope you've had a great Valentine's week! How did you celebrate?

  1. Missy,
I love chocolate covered strawberries!! They are so awesome. I've made them at home one time. I just don't think about it.
I'm glad your family liked them. :)

  2. You don't have to mix in anything with chocolate chips. Just heat on 50% and stir every minute. :)
