What are your talents and gifts?

Missy, here. I wanted to follow up on Angie's post from yesterday. She was talking about giving of our time and talents as well as our money.

Which made me start thinking about my gifts/talents. And made me think of yours as well! :)

Our church offers a class every so often based on Living Your Strengths.

I've never taken the class but would love to sometime. Have you ever taken the time to sit down and make a list of your own strengths? With the Living Your Strengths book, they have you take a survey called the Clifton Strengths Finder. The survey has been updated and is now called StrengthsFinder 2.0.

About StrengthsFinder 2.0 from their website... (and no, I have no connection to the company). :)

About the book - From the publisher (Gallup Press):

Description:
DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO BEST EVERY DAY?

Chances are, you don’t. From the cradle to the cubicle, we devote more time to fixing our shortcomings than to developing our strengths.

To help people uncover their talents, Gallup introduced StrengthsFinder in the 2001 management book Now, Discover Your Strengths. The book ignited a global conversation, while StrengthsFinder helped millions discover their top five talents.

In StrengthsFinder 2.0, Gallup unveils the new and improved version of its popular online assessment. With hundreds of strategies for applying your strengths, StrengthsFinder 2.0 will change the way you look at yourself—and the world—forever.

AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY IN STRENGTHSFINDER 2.0 (using the access code included with each book)

• The StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment, fine-tuned to be faster and more accurate

• A Strengths Discovery and Action-Planning Guide featuring: A customized version of your top five theme report; 50 Ideas for Action for building on your top five themes; A strengths-based action plan for setting goals

• And much more on the StrengthsFinder 2.0 website: A strengths community area; Resources, activities, and discussion guides; A strengths screensaver and program for creating display cards of your top five themes

So, have you ever done a survey like this before? What are your gifts/talents?

  1. Signing in a little late...unfortunately that's not a gift or talent!!

I've taken similar tests and find them fascinating as they always see to nail me. :) My gifts, talents and strengths are teacher, exhorter, and mercy. That's me...well, at least the first 2.
I have to pray for mercy sometimes!

  2. I have done several including the Strengths Finder 2.0 test. I suggest it to all my coaching clients. Here's me (and I'll bet my Top 5 Strengths don't surprise those that know me, lol).

    1. Achiever
    2. Strategic
    3. Contextual (understanding history and its effect on current life)
    4. Futuristic (understanding how cause and effect play out)
    5. Learner

Uh huh. Then add the spiritual giftings test. Creative writer, singer, and exhorter...Can you see why I'm a writer/speaker/coach?

So glad you mentioned this, Missy. It was going to come up on one of my future posts so now we'll have to expand :)

  3. My sisters and I read this book together over a year ago, and took the assessment. I don't remember my strengths off the top of my head, but from other similar assessments, they have not changed. This is a good book, and using it only strengthens what you know about yourself and how to use your God given gifts and talents. The process is stabilizing and reaffirming.
