Time with Mom

Missy, here. Last week, I talked about my son's graduation and the mom-son relationship. This week, I wanted to focus on my mother, and the fun I had taking her with me.

My mom, son, and me at graduation

My dad can't travel well anymore, but my mother was determined to make it to graduation. She lives in my hometown in Kentucky, so I drove up there and we met in Nashville. We had dinner with my sister and brother-in-law, then we flew to Durham the next morning.

We arrived that morning, well before everyone else made it to town. So we had the whole day to spend with my son. It was a fun day! And she was a real trooper as we went all over town shopping for my son's new apartment. :) The next two days, we had a great time at all the graduation activities. And then after most everyone else left town, I got to spend the last night with her in her hotel room. We flew out the next morning.

It was a good mom-daughter time! I'm so glad she was able to make it to graduation and that we had that time together.

Have you had a chance for some special time with your mother or mother figure lately?

  1. No special time with my mom and dad yet but I am returning to Canada and the U.S for my official book lunch in July. I will definitely be including them in my plans.

Glad you had a blast with your mom. I bet she nearly dropped from all the shoplifting...er, shopping, eh? lol

  2. Jeremy--yeah on the book launch! They are always so exciting and fun. :)

Missy--what a great picture. My mom lives close by, so we get together fairy often. There's always a lot of laughter when we get together.

  3. Jeremy, LOL. Luckily all she lifted was her walker! :)

Lindi, I love your mom! She's so fun. You're lucky to have her nearby. I only get to see my mom two or three times a year.

  4. Thanks for sharing, Missy.
My Mom's been in heaven 9 yrs., but today I took my second Mom to lunch. She just celebrated her
93rd birthday..is very active, still drives, hears well, sees well, mind clear and no assistance to walk..lives alone. Such a trooper! She is such a blessing.

  5. Missy,
How blessed you are! As I sat in my mom's hospital room yesterday I posted on FB that time with family is so precious. We should treasure every moment we have with our parents.
