Page 26-Don't Steal My Joy!

Lindi here.

And I'm coming to you in the bliss of starting a new manuscript. Yes, the bliss....because you see I'm only at the beginning where bliss rules.

I excitedly opened my document last week. I always hit 'control G' to take me to the last page of the document so I can continue working on the story. When I did this, and I looked to the bottom left corner of my computer screen it hit me.

The bliss of being in the new story world was threatened by the realization that I have about 300 pages to go until I'm finished. And if you've been reading this blog for any length of time you know I'm a panster and when I finish the first draft the 'real' work begins.

Page 26---don't steal my joy! Let me remain in the new book bliss for a little longer, please?

What messes with your joy while you're writing a story?

  1. Lindi, those things that don't come naturally to me are what threaten my joy. I'm good with dialog, but setting always bogs me down. Ah, such is the life of a writer.

  2. Setting--my struggle as well--I don't let that steal my joy until the revision process, though. :)
