Lindi here.

Last week I talked about starting my new story.

And I did.

And I'm having so much fun.

But isn't that how the beginning are. Fun. Lively. Getting into who the characters are. Introducing their personalities and looks. And conflicts.

For me the beginning is one of the most fun parts of writing a novel.  Much better than the middle.

But isn't that how it is for a lot of things. We're always excited at first, but then sometimes the excitetment wains. For me it has to with discovery. And I guess as long as I keep discovering things, the excitement level will stay on the upper level.

Which reminds me of my favorite line ever in a secular song---Journey's Faithfully.

"I get the joy of rediscovering you."

Yes, the joy. I"ll remember that when I'm in my sagging, I mean when I'm in the middle of my novel.

  1. Lindi, I call it new story love. Whe we're giddy and can hardly wait to work on it. That as opposed to the "I hate these characters. I want to kill them both and make it a short story--a tragedy!"

  2. LOL, Mindy. Yeah, the middle can be tough! Hard to gut it out. But then as I near the happy ending, I fall in love with it again.

  3. Mindy---Ha!! So true. How well you described the writing process!

Oh, and yes, Missy--at the end there is that light--the glimpse and hope it is all working out--however!! :)
