Lindi here.

Lately I've been doing a lot of writing.

And a lot of reading.

I can't remember a time when I wasn't reading a book. And as a writer, I find that reading inspires me. Especially when I read an amazing book. And the Lord has been amazing lately by directing me to books that have the power to change lives.

Fictional books.

Not self-help books.

Yes, fiction books can change lives.

I look at books in a lot of different ways. I look at them from a writing standpoint. Also, from an editing standpoint. From a reader standpoint. I like different books for different reasons.

One of the books I've read recently was this:

I started reading this book and was immediately drawn in by the characters. The writer wove words together in ways that I've dreamed of doing. The story was fascinating and the love story unfolding grabbed my heart and didn't let go.
With two chapters to go, I set the book down for a little while.
Because I didn't want to be finished. I didn't want the story to end. I didn't want the writing to end.
But, I did pick it up and finish it.
This book inspired me in so many ways. When I write, I try and think about how these characters engaged me and why. I try to remember the detail Jeffrey Stepakoff wrote with, without the detail becoming boring or overtaking the story. I try to remember the balance between the relationships he delved into in the novel.
What about you? Are you a reader? What was the last book that you read that changed your life?
