My Brain Needs a Vacation

Yes, it's me, Mindy. It's been a long time, I know. But I'm going to try to do better.

Well, the holidays are finally over. Hard to believe I used the word finally, since they really didn't last that long. Thanksgiving was here and then, poof, suddenly it was Christmas. Fun and crazy times, with family coming and going, the kids home from school, trying to decide on just the right gifts... I don't know about you, but my brain gets a little overloaded.

Now I just want to retreat from all the chaos. I want to sit in a quiet house and sip a nice cup of tea until the whirlwind of brain activity subsides to a gentle breeze.

Of course, just because the holidays are over doesn't mean that life doesn't go on. I have deadlines to meet, a family to feed, laundry that needs to be done, a house to clean (at least on occasion :) All things that require me to use my brain. Well, except maybe the laundry.

So what's a girl to do?

Aside from a deserted island or a snow-bound mountain cabin, that is.

How about a bubble bath? Or a long drive (so long as the weather's good)? Even waking up an hour or two before anyone else has it's advantages. Like savoring that first cup of coffee/tea as you enjoy some quiet time with the Lord. Ah, yes, now we're talking.

How do you escape the chaos without going anywhere? What's your favorite way to renew your mind and focus?

  1. For fun, because laughter is rejuvenating, I love to watch comedies and train Muse, my cat. For deep soul stuff, I like to get alone and quiet to think and pray.

  2. To escape--music with headphones.
Or like Angie I watch comedies.

  3. Peace and quiet, a good book, and a cup of coffee.

  4. Great ideas, ladies! Except for the cup of coffee. Bleck! ;)
