It Is Well With Our Souls

It Is Well With Our Souls is a title/label I'm putting on blog posts about relaxing. About being okay with down time or whatever you call that time that refreshes you.

It's time we all need.

But I fear, in this crazy world we live in, that at times we are driven to go, go, go.

Well, we need to add in the rest, rest, rest.

And this rest looks differently to everyone.

One of my ways to 'rest' is to read. I love reading books. It is one of the things that brings me rest. Yes, my mind is working processing the words and envisioning the images, but I'm also soaking in the beauty of the words and 'resting' in them.

The book I'm reading now is The Soul of The Rose by Ruth Trippy.

This book is not only well written, it's good for the soul. (Forgive ALL the puns in that statement!)

At the end of the day, the crazy day usually, I make time to read this book. It's my time to relax and refresh.

So, you know what's next.

That's right.

You tell me how you refresh. And next week consider me your accountability partner for confession time on how you relaxed the previous week.

Rest well!

  1. I read all weekend! Didn't work a bit.

I've been reading an anthology by several Love Inspired authors I love. It's called First Kisses: An Inspy Kisses Collection.

It was so nice to read shorter stories (novellas). Plus, I got to sit outside in the gorgeous weather to read! A perfect weekend. Oh, and my son was still home, so that was nice, too. (he had to go back to school yesterday afternoon, though. sniff sniff)

  2. It does sound like you relaxed a bit. :) That's the goal. Reading shorter stories is a way to get the whole picture in a shorter time-frame. I'm all for it. I have a few novellas on my TBR pile.

  3. This weekend was forced relaxation--8 hours round trip in a car. I love those because I can't read in the car. I watch the clouds and feel refreshed'. The inactivity makes my brain spark with ideas. So nice.
